When the oil pressure is lower than the specified value, the diaphragm has no force to push the spring, the contact is closed, and the indicator light is on; when the oil pressure is higher than the specified value, the diaphragm pushes the spring up, the contact separates, and the indicator light goes out to inform the driver The oil pressure has reached the specified value. Under normal circumstances, the contact action pressure in the range of 30~50 kPa.

After the ignition switch is turned on, the oil pressure indicator does not light up. The cause of the fault is that the oil pressure indicator wire harness falls off, or the filament is blown, or the fuse is blown. After the engine is started, the oil pressure reaches the specified value and the oil pressure indicator lights up. The cause of the fault is that the contact switch is not working properly or the wiring harness is grounded.

What happens if the oil pressure sensor is damaged:

The oil pressure signal shows that the engine oil pressure is lower than the specified value. The engine control module considers this to be a fault and stores it as a fault code 415. At this time, due to the low oil pressure, the protection function of the engine takes effect, forcing the engine power and speed to drop, which may cause the engine to stall for protection. The oil pressure sensor is installed on the cylinder block.

After starting, the oil pressure indicator light is always on. The engine trouble light stays on. Idle speed, oil pressure value is 0.99. Fault code: P01CA (oil pressure sensor voltage is higher than the upper limit)

Cause analysis: The oil pressure sensor probe is seriously damaged, the ECU detects that the oil pressure sensor is not connected, and the instrument display value is the internal substitute value of the ECU.

Solution: CheckOil pressure sensor. If the short circuit display is normal, it means that your sensor is normally open switch output. The switch has only two states. If there is oil in the chassis, but the sensor still does not output, it means that the sensor is damaged. If it is a two-wire system, string into a small light bulb (5-24v) to see if the light bulb can be lit, if not lit (with oil) must be broken.
